Dear
Colleague It is my privilege to invite you to the 1st
International Symposium in Northern India on Mobile Bearing Knee
Arthroplasty, to be held at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital on
December 29-30,2002.
Arthritis is the fate of man-kind,
only the extent of involvement differs from individual to
individual. More than 6000 patients undergo total knee
arthroplasty each year in India and a much larger figure in the
whole world. TKA is among one of the most successful procedures
in orthopaedic surgery. The debate continues as to best
treatment option regarding total knee arthroplasty fixed bearing
prosthetic designs have performed well at 10 to 20 years follow
up, but polyethylene wear and patellofemoral complications have
been reported. Mobile bearing prostheses were developed in an
attempt to reduce some of these problems. In this symposium
our endeavor will be to discus various topics on MBK threadbare
and to make the concept of mobile bearing knee as well as the
TKA procedure itself more clear. The workshop will explore "
Mobile Bearing Total Knee Arthroplasty, its design evolution,
and clinical experience. The symposium will include lectures
by eminent surgeon in the field and Live Surgical Demonstration
by Dr Jean-Louis BRIARD, who is the most prominent figure in
knee Surgery in Europe today. Dr. Briard is the pioneer in
computer assisted TKA. dr_rksharma@hotmail.com .........................................................................................................
