AN
OVERVIEW Dear Colleague It
is my privilege to invite you to the Registrar Course in Total
Knee Arthroplasty to be held at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital,
Sarita Vihar, New Delhi on December 20, 2004. Lately joint replacement surgery in India has ushered into a new era. Various aspects of arthroplasty have unfolded and many myths trashed. Today is the time when the training for arthroplasty has to be initiated early. In the coming time we should expect joint replacement procedures to be performed at central and peripheral India alike. Most certainly the awareness amongst patients needs to be aroused and we have to be prepared to answer them at all levels. I expect that in time to come, arthroplasty will spread in India in quality and quantity as is the case with trauma surgery. In this symposium, our effort will be focussed on PRACITCE of TKA. The goal will be achieved by very well done video presentations and case sessions apart from the intensely focussed talks from the experts in the field, discussing the topics thread bare. The symposium will include lectures by eminent surgeon Dr. Jean-Louis BRIARD, who is the most prominent figure in Knee Surgery in Europe. Dr. Briard is the pioneer in computer assisted TKA and key figure in the evolution of the computer assisted surgical module by Brain Lab. He was the organizer of the Silver Jubilee LCS meet at Amsterdam in the year 2002. We will keep this one-day session action packed and full of academic feast, to be remembered.
